During our topic week the children concentrated on art and history work. We studied Mary Anning who was a famous paeleontolosist from the 19th century. We matched fossils to dinosaurs, went on a fossil hunt, made fossils, compared life in the 19th century to today and looked at important events…

Wow words work!

The children used a thesaurus in groups and pairs to find adjectives. They recorded their words on either paint charts or target boards to show which they thought were the strongest word choices.

Today tigers class have had a visit from three firemen who talked the children through how to stay safe and what to do if there was a fire.

The parents came into school for the afternoon. With their help, we made up physical activities, evaluated packed lunches and did a taste test to investigate which cereal contained the most sugar.

The year threes worked collaboratively to draw a scene in the style of Quentin Blake. The results were impressive.

Drawing and painting in the style of Quentin Blake

After watching a tutorial the children had a go at drawing in the style of Quentin Blake. They used pencil to create the line and then used water colours to paint.
