We value art at Catforth and we place it at the centre of our curriculum. Children are taught art every week at Catforth as we believe it is vital to developing their creativity and love of learning.
At Catforth Primary School art projects begin with studying an artist that the children take inspiration from. Using a variety of art skills they immerse themselves in the style of an artist and the subject of focus before creating a final piece. They then create pieces which reflect what they have learnt and their own ideas. Art topics often reflect the wider curriculum being taught in class and the children's art work is influenced by their learning.
We use Access Art as a basis for our curriculum, and adapt this to meet the needs of our children.
