Our Spring 1 Science topic was Electricity. We learnt about the different sources of electricity and sorted appliances into groups depending on whether they are powered by battery, mains electricity or both. We made electric circuits containing bulbs, batteries, wires and switches. We also conducted an investigation to find out what happens when we put different objects into our circuits. We found that our circuits still worked when we put metal objects in them, such as coins and paper clips. We concluded that metal is an electrical conductor because electricity can travel through it.

In Geography, we learnt about Niagara Falls. We located Niagara Falls on a range of maps and identified some of the physical and human features that are in the Niagara area. We also learnt about how electricity is made at Niagara Falls through hydroelectric power.

In Art, we are working on a Niagara Falls piece. We have painted a background onto fabric and will later add detail to our work through sewing.
