In science this half term we are learning about humans. Today we started off our topic answering the question "what is a human?" The children came up with some amazing ideas and we noted them all down on a massive piece of paper. 

We had a great school trip to Borwick Hall. We spent time canoeing, building fires and enjoying being outside!

In science today we tested some different materials to see which once would be the best for a visor. It needed to shade the astronauts eyes from the light. We used the data loggers to test how much light each material let through.

During our English lesson this week we pretended to be reporters to interview the characters for our story. We had great fun using microphones to ask our questions. The children came up with some brilliant questions I think we have some budding reporters in our midst. 

We have had a brilliant week during science week. Today we have been investigating sound by seeing how long we could make our voices travel using plastic tubes. 

This half term during our computing lessons we are learning how to record sound and video. We have been using some exciting apps on the iPads to help us do this. We are now really good at using the buttons needed to play, stop and record sound and video. 

During this session we worked together…

For our half term homework we had to find a poem that made us laugh. We then read the outloud to our friends. We are having a poetry themed world book day and dressing up as characters from these poems. 

Today we enjoyed hot seating the characters in our book. Hot seating is where we pretend to be a character from a story and answer questions as if we were that character. 

This week in Science we looked at the parts of a plant. We used magnifying glasses to help us look closely at the roots, stem, leaves and petals.

We also then created and labelled plants on the carpet with the construction. 

In science this half term we are learning about plants. We went on a plant walk then decided to create our own plants out of things we could find in the classroom.  We then labelled them with the parts of the plant we already know. 

This half term in Computing we are learnig about email. We have emailed the teachers from the other classes and now we are going to email another school! We will wait with excitement for their reply. 

We had a great first Christmas craft club on Monday. We started creating our brilliant crafts that we will finish in the next few weeks. 

We ended our session with a Christmas story read by the fabulous Gracie.
