Panthers Class have been learning about Peru and the Amazon Rainforest this week, focussing on the town of Puerto Maldonado and it's place within the Amazon Rainforest. We have located the rainforests of the world and studied the Amazon in more detail. We looked at the economy of the town and how people there make money, from logging and gold mining to eco tourism. us
We were really lucky to have a zoom session with Gary Prescott, the explorer, who told us all about his journey canooing through the Amazon. He told us all about the 10m anaconda he saw and when he met a tapir and got covered in 1cm long lice!
We have also been studying the art of Robert Bradford and have designed our own rainforest animal sculptures using recycled materials in the style of his work.
