There’s a hole in my bucket investigation.
After investigating materials, the children predicted which material would be the best to mend a hole in a cup. They had to be sure or they would get wet!
Mountains and the Himalayas
Our topic in Panthers Class at the moment is 'Mountains and the Himalayas'. We started off by identifying mountain ranges around the world, before focusing in on the physical and human geography of the Himalayas and Nepal. We looked at the different land use in Nepal and debated the impact of…

Our Bodies
Today in science we had lots of activities on offer to learn more about our bodies. We used the mirrors to look closely at our eyes to help us draw them. We had discussions about what the most important body part was. We also created our own X-rays and moving skeletons. We love…

Humans
In science this half term we are learning about humans. Today we started off our topic answering the question "what is a human?" The children came up with some amazing ideas and we noted them all down on a massive piece of paper.

Astronaut Visor
In science today we tested some different materials to see which once would be the best for a visor. It needed to shade the astronauts eyes from the light. We used the data loggers to test how much light each material let through.

Visit to Alston Observatory
Panthers class had a fantastic visit to Alston Observatory, run by the University of Central Lancashire. We got to go in their planetarium and observe the planets and constellations. We also got to talk to the scientists that work there, and have a go with one of their telescopes!

Recycled flower sculptures
Tigers class looked at a range of artists that created pieces of art using recycled material and objects. The children then designed and made their own flower sculptures that also built on their knowledge of plants.

Pollination
We learnt that pollination happens with help from people, insects, birds and other animals. We used glitter to show how pollen can be transferred from flowering plant to flowering plant.
